# Why Twitter is Embracing NFTs

Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are still mysterious assets for many investors…

But not for readers of **_Stock Surge Daily_**!

NFTs are not going anywhere.

In fact, I think this is just the beginning.

For example, [**social media giant Twitter (TWTR)**](https://stocksurgedaily.com/how-the-meta-miss-started-a-cascade-of-social-selloffs/) recently announced a new feature.

The feature will allow users to display NFT profile images, which will be displayed in a different shape to differentiate them from a normal picture.

First was Twitter Blue...

A subscription service offering that gives users a blue check mark and other features that set users apart from “standard” users.

Now, the company is going a step further.

## **The Next Step to a Digital Future**

As the latest tech giant to embrace the NFT trend, Twitter will allow Twitter Blue users to upload their NFT as a profile picture.

However, they’ll first have to verify ownership via their [**digital wallet and the blockchain**](https://stocksurgedaily.com/one-way-to-know-when-buyers-may-return/).

For most people over the age of 40, this news is insignificant at best.

But for the younger generations who were born into a world where digital identity is as important -- if not more so -- as their physical one, it’s a big deal.

## **The Digital Status Symbol**

For many in the Millennial/Gen Y cohort, [**a “Bored Ape” NFT**](https://stocksurgedaily.com/heres-my-entire-stock-strategy-in-two-sentences/) on your Twitter profile is the equivalent of pulling up to a party in a Rolls Royce.

It is a status symbol and the ultimate way to show off your wealth.
